Hey, friends!

I am a Luso-Canadian children’s writer. My parents and sisters emigrated to Canada from Portugal, and I was later born in Montreal. We then moved to Quebec City, a place that gave me snowy, magical memories, later leaving for Ontario where I established roots.

My father was a seafarer and a great storyteller, my sisters were artsy, and my mom wrote poetry. In her nineties, my mother still writes soul-stirring poems!

My science degree had me working in laboratories and later running a research ethics board. I am now lucky enough to present science workshops in elementary schools! Early on, during a challenging time, I turned to picture book-writing as a means of escape and now write full time (almost!) for both young children and young adults.
